RHINO’S BROTHER
“I grew up with Ray Charles and Primus. The Beatles and Talking Heads, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Grateful Dead. They might be juxtapositions, but they aren’t at odds – they’re seeds, and my sound is the fruit of that musical garden.”
Rhino’s Brother offers funk dipped in grunge, a thought-provoking dance-party and a gritty rock show ensconced in psychedelia.
Eric Frank is Rhino’s Brother
Eric Frank (known to friends as “Franko” and to acquaintances simply as “Rhino’s Brother”) first emerged onto the Milwaukee music scene in the early 2000’s in his then-band, Gypsy Kitchen, with his brother Ryan Frank (“Rhino”). Together, the band grew to become one of Milwaukee’s top psychedelic live acts, playing to packed rooms and hosting large-scale multi-day camp-outs.
Following the dissolution of Gypsy Kitchen, Eric went on to form Chinese Fingertrap with a focus on funk and soul music. The band grew to national success, performing at top festivals of the era such as 10,000 Lakes Music Festival, Wakarusa, Fat Fest, and Operation Adaptation, a festival that the band themselves created.
In 2011, Frank relocated to Denver, CO and formed Art Smart Anatomy with fellow Fingertrap bassist, Brian Saulig. A jazz/funk trio with heavy psychedelic overtones, Art Smart Anatomy performed across Colorado until keyboardist Nate Leichtman left for New Orleans. During this time, however, Frank additionally offered his percussive hands to a plethora of well-known acts, including The Magic Beans, Frogs Gone Fishin’ and various super-jams, including with members of Rusted Root, The Motet, Euforquestra, Dopapod, Lotus, ManyColors and more.
Today, Frank channels his vast musical expertise into Rhino’s Brother, a band that embodies his eclectic and dynamic compositional style, blending a multitude of genres into a cohesive and electrifying experience.
