Joey Porter Returns to Ladies' Night at Quixote's

Sometime in early 2013, a group of well-known musicians began playing for Ladies' Night at Quixote's True Blue in Denver, CO. Led by its keyboard player, the group funkified Monday nights with a mix of jazz/funk jams and recognizable dance grooves. The band was Joey Porter's Vital Organ and the man we speak of, of course, is Joey Porter.
And though we were pretty bummed when it was announced in July of 2015 that Vital Organ would no longer be holding down the Monday night duties, excitement overcame calamity when it was revealed that fellow Motet-er and guitarist Ryan Jalbert's Jalbatross would be taking over the weekly Monday appointment.
This Monday, April 18, Jalbatross welcomes the return of Joey Porter to Ladies' Night. Regular Jalbatross keyboardist Stephen Thurston (one of our other favorite ivory ticklers in town) will be out on the road with former American Idol contestant, Casey Abrams, and in his stead will sit Porter. We're forecasting a real rager for this pre-420 throw-down.
Across the way and into the next room you'll find my own band—Art Smart Anatomy. I figure hey, it’s 2016, it’s a creator’s world and I’m out here creating. And I also have a rather large music network at my disposal so, rather than hide from it, I’m putting it all out there. Having said that, Art Smart Anatomy does, on occasion, don panty hoes over our heads while playing, creating some anonymity (and possibly some confusion). But, they’re easily pulled off—just don’t do it while we’re performing, please. I’ll be the guy behind the drums. Nate Leichtman is one baaad mutha on the keys, and Brian Saulig (a.k.a. B-Bone) slaps a mean bass. Our set from last week included MMW's tempo-oscillating "Bubblehouse," our own spin on Soulive's "Rudy's Way," and a handful of (hopefully) mood-enhancing originals. Come say hi!
